A/V Monitoring Workstation installation

  • OS version

Starting the AV monitoring workstation, services and applications

  • Turn on the workstation
  • Log in as user 'monitor'
  • Make sure you have networking
  • Start Jackd
      /home/all/jackd &
    
  • Start the monitoring suite of VLC instances
      /home/all/monitor_all
    
  • We are using the i3 desktop. Some useful keyboard shortcuts are:
  • Key Function
    Windows-Arrow Switch focus to next window
    Windows-Shift-Arrow Move the currently focused window
    Windows H Tile the currently focused window horizonally
    Windows-Shift-Number Move the currently focused window to monitor 'Number'
    Windows-D Open the menu
    Windows-V Tile the currently focused window vertically
    Alt Enter Open a shell

  • If a VLC instance hangs
    pkill -f 
    

The camera control web page

* Connect to the camera control page * Choose a room from the yellow menu bar at the top of the screen * The slides display in the lower right, the video stream in the upper left of the screen

Controls

  • Camera controls
    • Pan moves the camera left and right
    • Tilt moves the camera up and down. Zero is looking straight out.
    • Zoom controls are not currently stable. After making a change either numerically or by using the handles you need to click on another control to execute the change.
    • Step affects the amount the handles (up and down arrows) change the value for the other three controls
  • Signs allows the conference slide show to be rebooted
  • Overflow Streaming allows splitting the stream to a second room
  • Recording allows control of the recorded stream
    • If the center section of the slider disappears refresh the page
  • KVM
    • Side A of the KVM displays the show banner stream
    • Side B of the KVM is for the presenter's slides
  • The Scan Converter controls affect the slides
