Series and sub series level description - smith-special-collections/sc-documentation GitHub Wiki
Everything you have said about the collection as a whole is assumed to apply to everything under it, unless you specifically state otherwise. This is commonly called the "law of inheritance," i.e. things inherit the traits of the sections they belong to.
At the series level, the minimum elements required are:
- Title
- Component unique identifier- i.e. the series number.
- Date of materials
- Extent of materials
- Scope and Content note
You might also want to use:
- Biographical/historical note (if needed to provide context particular to the series)
- Immediate source of acquisition note (if the series was given to us from a different source than the rest of the collection)
