Peergroup is a file sharing and synchronization solution distributing data peer-to-peer without using a central storage facility. The client joins a XMPP Multi-User-Chat (aka Jabber Conference) in order to synchronize data with other clients in the same channel until each participant is in possession of all data. While signaling data is transferred via the conference channel, the real data is exchanged peer-to-peer.
