Why I cannot find Moon or Sun? - smart-underworld/seestar_alp GitHub Wiki

The Problem

Seestar's official app assumes there is no difference in directional North and magnetic North. Therefore, in much of world's region where this is not the case, your compass in not pointing to true North. This means it will have a hard time finding the Sun or the Moon by simple scanning.

The Solution

The fix is to use seestar_alp v2.2.1+, in which a new command to adjust your compass by taking into account your region's magnetic declination offset.

How

To use it,

  1. perform a compass calibration with your Seestar Official App
  2. run magnetic_declination_adjustment command in seestar_alp.
    1. it will use your current site location determine the proper offset value and apply it to your compass calibration.
    2. no need to run this command until you redo your compass calibration again

Note: At present (V2.2.2) this command can only be issued via the Bruno method. In a future release it will be added to the SSC commands webpage.
