The clipboard is a powerful tool that allows you to save your items locally, so you can use them in an other world, or even on a server. But it's not the main feature of the clipboard. The clipboard can save items and entities that you can reuse somewhere else :

• You can customize, then copy an item to the clipboard and paste it in an inventory: for example, you can give custom equipment to a zombie (see this tutorial).
• You can customize, then copy an entity to the clipboard and paste it in a mob spawner: the mob spawner will then spawn your custom mob (see this tutorial).

To manage your clipboard, press the J hotkey. You can also configure this hotkey from the Controls menu. You can filter which content you want to see and remove an entry if you don't use it anymore.
