The image introduces the main components of the Registry Information Model required for semantic annotation of information elements managed by an OASIS ebXML RegRep.

Architecture

A certain (semantic) information element is described as a node (ClassificationNode). Nodes may have subordinates nodes assigned and are organized in schemes (ClassificationScheme).

Starting from this simple model, e.g. a taxonomy may be described as a scheme, and all of its hierarchically organized terms as nodes. Restricting to the elements of the Classification Information Model, an OASIS ebXML RegRep may be used as a platform to register and discovery all of the taxonomies defined for a certain enterprise.
