IT Technologies What does it do? (600 words) What is the state of the art of this new technology? • Machine Learning Machine learning is run through algorithms and has two type of techniques, supervised learning and unsupervised learning. Supervised learning can predict future outcomes while unsupervised learning hides patterns. The data is analysed and inputted and outputted to learn information directly from data without relying on predetermined equation as a model. Machine learning algorithms are on the rise with new techniques, advances or combinations. Computer vison, natural language processing and speech recognition; being the fields many tasks are driven from these e.g., self-driving cars, Megatron-LM, the Fix Efficient net and the Facebook Research AI team. Also, algorithms based on NLP can be found in various applications and industries. (NLP Natural language processing. • Blockchain and cryptocurrencies Cryptocurrencies is a digital currency to exchange different currencies. Bitcoin is a currency for example. Blockchains are created from peer-to-peer network and a serious of chains. Blockchains has connections to manage multiple transactions and are used for cryptocurrencies to exchange for purchases through digital coin wallets and currencies. It is also an investment like stock exchange where you can margin or spot the exchange through cryptocurrencies in terms of the scale of market going either up or down. Bitcoin was created in 2009. Blockchain is a revolutionising change to the information technology industry. In systems of applications through big data, cloud computing, AI, and its key components; blockchain based IOT and blockchain security, and blockchain base data management.

Robots in biomimetics, will concentrate of the mechanics of equipment. “International experts on robotics are of the view that by year 2020, robots will be capable of observing and performing tasks, talking, and will possess aptitude and intellect. The association of human beings with robots will be ordinary and usual. In the near future, robots will not be a complex machine, but equipment or machinery to be utilized in everyday life, including washing, assisting in moving of disabled or injured people, working in factories, etc.” (https://www.brighthubengineering.com/robotics/33050-the-future-of-robotics/ by bright hub engineering 2011) • Makey Makeys An invention from two students in a lab that wanted to inspire creativity. A makey board does exactly that. There are scientific learning pads, arcade games, creativity and art. Students can learn how electrical energy can be transferred and transformed in electrical circuits using Makey makey boards as the basis for experimentation and recoding of data. So, it a basis for inventers both beginner to learn and an experienced engineering to develop new ways of learning, inventions and creativity. Designing new ways to improve learning and education through use of makey boards.
What technological or other developments make this possible? • Machine Learning Hugh amounts of data that provides a particular response given particular inputs. Machine learning optimises a model to summarise represented data. There has been new and changing developments in machine learning; two developments being 1) Growing databases that made it possible to feed the algorithm with enough data 2) the technological developments processors, RAMS, graphic cards made it possible to train more complex algorithms that need more computing power. With increasing investment to data science and interest in machine learning more and more applications, new technologies and algorithms are being developed.
• Blockchain and cryptocurrencies Blockchain makes the use of a ledger through management of data. It is known as a distributed ledger Technology (DLT). No one distribution or organisation can own the chain and is a distributed ledger via the nodes connected to the chain. It can be used on any types of devices and kept a copy of the blockchain to keep the network functioning. • Robots There is numerical-control and teleoperator robotic technologies. A teleoperator is control by a human from a remote location, in which the robot is operated by mechanical manipulators. Numerical is programmed by an industrial machine. A list of development of robotics in the future are as follows; public security, education, at home, co-workers, automated cars, healthcare, entertainment. “The tasks in office administration, logistics and transport, where some job roles are being replaced by robots. However, they also create jobs and AI will replace some tasks not jobs. But robots will also create new markets and jobs.”
Robots have helped shape our technology and plays a big part in industrial revolution.
• Makey Makeys It utilises assistive technologies and creates learning developments through technology, science and engineering. Will this create, replace or make redundant any current jobs or technologies? • Machine Learning All industries will be affected by machine learning changes. Rather than just relying on one source; a machine assisted operator will help in any context providing extra insight into emergency situations with the use of ML and AI and any other environments. Machine learning has the potential to automate a large portion of skilled labour but depends of the level of expertise requires in that skill set. Blockchain and cryptocurrencies There will be significant changes in the future with use of blockchain and regulating the cryptocurrencies. The blockchain don’t need to relay on centralised revolutions. It also reduces the corruption by creating transparency of official records. So therefore, it will open doors and create many job opportunities throughout the blockchain operators and development of currencies to create a world digital currency base. • Robots Yes and no. robots will replace some aspects and tasks and jobs. They are much needed in certain industries like health, logistics and security; however other aspects of jobs and growth will still be in high demand. Robots can integrate with some factors of tasks and to also assist in tasks that are much needed in the workforce.
