General
Use Case 1
You play all the sims games and at some point one horrible package from the wrong game got mixed in with your 456,923 other package files. You don't know which one it is.
This app will show you which one it is and even move it to another folder for you.
Use Case 2
Say you're a modder or you make CC. You have a perfectly curated Packages folder for your gameplay, but when you're testing your work you only really need a few things (say, MC Command Center, TOOL and your item), and you don't want to load your WIP mod when you're just playing either.
Set one profile for "Gameplay" and one for "Testing". Enable your curated mods in "Gameplay", and only the things you want in "Testing". All you have to do then is flip back and forth to test your work in peace.
Use Case 3
You and your three siblings share the same game and computer. You want a medieval build. Sibling #1 likes to play mostly vanilla with a few quality of life mods. Sibling #2 throws every last thing into their game and breaks it. Nightmare stuff (ahem).
You can either have an instance each, or share one instance with individual profiles. Either way, you can set the profiles to "local saves" and "local data", and your own personal gameplay will always stay within your profile and theirs within theirs. Then, similar to above, you can enable and disable any mods you desire.
Sims 2
Use Case 1
If you've ever tried to make a custom neighborhood in Sims 2, you know it involves hiding the stealth hoods, which you don't always want to do for other games. Rather than forget to move them back in for your Pleasantview gameplay, you can add the stealth hood folders into your instance folder as folders, set them as Load as Folder and as Root, and when you have them enabled they will automatically add themselves back into the game.
Sims 3
Use Case 1
Similar to the Sims 2 example, if you've ever wanted to have different Universities for different worlds and didn't want to mess around with swapping in and out the University world, you can do it by adding it to your instance folder, toggling it as Root and Load as Folder and away you go!
Sims 4
Use Case 1
Maybe you like having one lighting overhaul for your Decades Challenge and one for your normal gameplay? Load the lighting overhauls as Root and not as Load as Folder and it will automatically load whichever you choose when you play your profiles.
