Downloadyze Download Settings - sixcious/downloadyze GitHub Wiki
When you click on Downloadyze's Toolbar Icon, you'll be shown a UI Window that shows the download settings for the current tab/page.
This is the general order of the settings you'll want to set:
- Set the Download Mode
- Set the Download Strategy
- Set the Download Options
- Manage the Download Preview Table Selections and/or set the Auto Options (Optional)
- Click the ACCEPT Button
There are three Download Modes you can choose from in the navigation drawer on the left hand-side of the app.
This mode only downloads files from the current page/tab you're on.
Downloads files from the current page and then allows you to perform a Multi Action to go to the next page and downloads its files. If you toggle on the Auto Switch, Downloadyze will automatically do this for you. If you don't toggle on Auto, you can click the Mutli Action Buttons (for example, Increment or Decrement Buttons) to manually go to the next page and click the Download Button when you want to download files from the page. A confirmation dialog will appear letting you know that you have this mode enabled when you have AUTO toggled on; you may disable the dialog if you feel this reminder isn't necessary.
Downloads from each tab in the current browser window using the settings you set. Downloadyze will wait the number of Auto Seconds set before downloading the next tab. You may adjust the Auto Seconds, but the AUTO Switch should not be toggled on before you click the ACCEPT Button when using this mode. A confirmation dialog will appear letting you know that you have this mode enabled. Due to how dangerous this mode can be, this dialog cannot be turned off for your protection.
There are seven Download Strategies available and one Download Strategy that requires Special Mode. You can hover over the ? Button next to the Download Strategy dropdown to find out more details about each strategy.
Downloads files by a general category/type, such as "Image" (which could encompass both .jpg and .png file extensions, for example).
Shows a list of all available file extensions found on the page and allows you to select which extensions to download (e.g. .jpg).
Download files by the HTML tags; for example <img> for images.
Download files by their HTML tag attributes (rarely needed).
Download a URL by using the Element Picker to pick it on the page or by entering a CSS Selector or XPath expression.
Pre-selects all URLs to download, allowing you to filter just based on the URL Includes and URL Excludes text filters (see section below).
Downloads an HTML (Text) or MHTML (Single File, Complete) file of the web page.
Captures and downloads a screenshot of the page (Special Mode Only).
The download delay will delay the download request per file by the number of milliseconds (ms) set. It's recommended to use a low seconds value because a value that is too high (such as over 30 seconds) may cause the browser to terminate the background process due to inactivity. Chrome currently enforces about a 30 second maximum. A maximum of 20 seconds is enforced for this reason.
Downloadyze isn't allowed to download files to anywhere other than the location you set in your Browser Download Settings. However, it can save files under different subfolders inside your main download location folder. You can enter the name of the subfolder you want Downloadyze to download files to. It's important to note that if the filename is missing from the URL, the file will be downloaded to your main folder instead of the subfolder.
If you are using Multi Page or Multi Tab mode and you include a number in the Subfolder name, Downloadyze will auto-increment the number and save each page in its own subfolder.
These inputs allow you to further filter which URLs Downloadyze should download based on the URL. They are technically regular expressions, so if you want to match special regex characters literally like . or ?, you'll want to prefix them with a \ i.e. \. or \?.
For more complex use-cases, you can use pipe operators (|) or commas (,) to separate multiple filters in one input. Here are some examples showing the differences between the two types of multiple filters.
thumb|small|preview - This filter will only match URLs that have the word thumb, small, OR preview in them. In other words, the URL only needs to have one of the three words to match (i.e. an OR match).
bad, error, invalid - This filter will only match URLs that have all the words: bad, error, AND invalid in them. In other words, if one of the words is missing, it won't match (i.e. it must be an AND match).
