You manage to force Dark Matter into a wrapper around a furnace. The resulting energies greatly boost the speed of the furnace. It smelts about 2 items per second. Ores are magically refined to produce 2 ingots per ore. When given the chance, this machine will take EMC from nearby Collectors and Relays, as well as Klein Stars in its fuel slot to power its smelting.

Vanilla EMC = 10,059,784

Wrapping Red Matter blocks partially around a Dark Matter Furnace seem to further boost the speed. The furnace smelts at about 6.5 operations per second.
