Tips for Gamers - simibubi/Above-and-Beyond GitHub Wiki
If you're starting off in the pack, consider the following advice:
-
3 nuggets per ore seems rough, but a 1/1 ore to ingot processing option involving the Create Millstone and the Tinkers' Melter (not smeltery) is surprisingly easy to get early on!
-
Redstone Ore cannot be found underground. Obtain redstone by crushing or milling Cinnabar.
-
If any task becomes repetitive, find a way to automate it!
-
Looting abandoned structures around you will leave you with a significant amount of Treasure.
-
Place some Arboreal Extractors on trees early on, then you have a supply of resin ready to be used for creating your first couple of Mechanical Belts.
-
Some ways to passively obtain Iron Ingots: washing gravel, recycling weapons from dungeon mobs
-
If you miss having brass equipment for filtering items early on; don't forget that you can still technically craft brass machines semi-manually before anything else is automated.
-
Use the Currency system to your advantage. Earn coins, get a profession early, get a Trading Station from the Shipments tab- and you'll be able to just buy any mineral you need.
-
Embrace the Pace: This modpack was not made to be played in a day. Be ready to put extra effort into single steps, and to take breaks after.
-
Build generous farms! Tiny pocket-factories might get you through early times, though mind that the final Data Centre may require melting down over 40 stacks of calculation mechanisms. Beware of bottlenecks!
-
Don't let the quests distract you from the game- find your own narrative and build a themed factory for something you would like to automate and sell. Not only does it keep things interesting and unique, the earned coins will help you achieve the primary objective, too.
