I was trying to find ways to running openHAB on openwrt system till today.
But it seems not working at all for us.

The possible methods to using openHAB on openwrt are

  1. JamVM on openwrt (a compact JVM for embedded system)

    • some people tried, but there is no way to avoiding classpath bug on floating point computation.
    • new version of JamVM is going to solve this by supporting openJDK.

  2. Oracle's Java embedded 8

    • it seems not that difficult for our hardware. (lowest requirement is 1MB ROM and 128MB RAM)
    • only supports ARM CPU. For our 9531/9331/newifi, they are mips.
      (newifi is another router that is suitable to be hacked as openwrt and very low-cost)
    • considering the storage size of openHAB.....it might be not a cheap solution.

The above are what I can find and understand on google.

FYI.
I suggest we keep openHAB's everything in mind no matter what system we are building for our smart-gateway.
Its highly-integrity and flexibility of customizing is a good arrow that we can follow.
