Randomizer Freezing

I have found that there are a number of seeds that cause the randomizer to freeze. (One common freezing issue has been fixed in 1.0.6) If this happens, close both the game and randomizer, restart them, and try again.

Game Crashing

Occasionally, something might go wrong and the game might crash. If this happens, reload the game and randomize again. It should put you very close to where you were when it crashed.

Normal Difficulty

Desert

Outside rotating panel: It seems to move faster than usual. This was done to reduce waiting time. If you have trouble getting to the right perspective quick enough, activate the rotation control from a distance.

Jungle

Dot puzzles: The wall was popped up even though I didn't solve the previous puzzles. Since the previous puzzles aren't randomized, I popped the wall up ahead of time so that you can skip them.

Keep

Last puzzle: I solved it, but the laser didn't turn on. You must also solve the pressure plate side.
Last puzzle: I understand the puzzle, but the correct path isn't a valid solution. There must be an alternate solution to one of the other puzzles that would result in a correct path.

Mountain

Quarry

Multi-eraser puzzle: The erasers aren't erasing all the symbols. Multiple erasers have weird behavior in The Witness. However, there is a consistent solution. Check the "Hints" wiki page if you can't figure out what to do.

Swamp

Negative Poly Puzzles: The game sometimes won't accept a solution even though it should be correct. The game won't accept any solution that requires polyominoes to extend past the edges of the grid. Find a solution that allows all polyominoes to stay inside the grid. The algorithm that generates these types of puzzles should guarantee that such a solution exists.

Symmetry

Last puzzle before the laser: The symmetry doesn't seem right. This puzzle throws a curveball, just like in the original game.

Town

Church Star Door: When I solved it, the door didn't open. This is because the perspective puzzle behind it isn't randomized. So instead, I just had the church door directly turn on the wire to the tower.
Red glare panel: Solving it did nothing. The door was already opened for you, since none of the puzzles in that series are randomized.

Expert Difficulty

Desert

Keep

Purple Pressure Plates: The only valid solution requires passing through an obstructed edge. This is intentional. You'll need to think outside the box to progress.
Green Pressure Plates: The only valid solution is not doable because of having to step on a certain edge when entering the grid. This is intentional. You'll need to think outside the box to progress.
Blue Pressure Plates: The symmetry isn't working. I removed the symmetry for this puzzle.
Last puzzle: When I got to the top, the panel wasn't turned on. You must solve all four pressure plate puzzles for the panel to activate.

NOTE: A bug causing the panel to not activate when it is supposed to has been patched in version 1.0.1. If you are using version 1.0, please download the latest release and verify the issue still exists before continuing with any of the steps below.

If you're certain you solved all four of them correctly and the panel still won't turn on, perform the following steps:

  1. Close and reopen the game.

  2. Reset and solve the blue puzzle the normal way.

  3. Climb the tower and solve the laser puzzle the normal way.

  4. Re-randomize.

Last puzzle: I solved it, but the laser didn't turn on. You must also solve the pressure plate side.

Mountain

Dual Bridge Puzzle: I erased my bridge and got stranded on the other side. The puzzle is solvable from that side.
Mountain Floor: Discontinuous shapes don't work. I don't know how to fix this. However, the intended solution shouldn't require discontinuous shapes.

Quarry

Triangle Puzzles: The triangles don't disappear when they are erased. I don't know why this happens. However, the game will still treat the triangles as erased.

Swamp

Negative Poly Puzzles: The game sometimes won't accept a solution even though it should be correct. The game won't accept any solution that requires polyominoes to extend past the edges of the grid. Find a solution that allows all polyominoes to stay inside the grid. The process that generates these types of puzzles should guarantee that such a solution exists.

Symmetry

Glass factory symmetry: One puzzle doesn't accept my solution for some reason. There is a reason for this. Check the "Hints" wiki page for more information.

Town

Yellow Glass Door: When I solved it, the door didn't open. This is intentional. In expert mode, the church star door opens the yellow glass door.
The tower door connected to the perspective puzzle won't open. You have to solve the RGB room in the other building.
Red glare panel: Solving it did nothing. The door was already opened for you, since none of the puzzles in that series are randomized.

Treehouse

Orange bridge: One of the panels didn't turn on. This is intentional. However, there is still a way to get to the laser. The panel will turn itself on when you activate the laser.

Tutorial

Two-exit puzzle: One of the exits seems inaccessible. There is a special trick to getting out of the tutorial area on expert mode. See the "Hints" wiki page if you are still stuck.

Vaults

Shipwreck: The dot sizes seem to make this puzzle impossible. The puzzle is still possible. Check the "Hints" wiki page for more information.
