Obviously, it’s not necessary to read the one minute version word for word, but if you’re limited to a minute, it’s probably best to stick to the script.

One Minute Version

My name is <your name>, and I’m here to tell you about MegaMinerAI 14: Plants. MegaMinerAI is a programming competition that is held every semester at Missouri S&T. Competing teams have 24 hours to write a program that plays a brand new game developed by SIG-Game. At the end of 24 hours, a tournament is run, and the winning teams receive Amazon Gift Card prizes.

This semester’s game is called Plants. It has something to do with plants. Right now, the details of the game are secret, but at noon on Saturday, they will be explained.

The registration fee is $24 per team, and teams can have up to three members. You will receive a $4 discount for each team member who is also a member of our local student chapter of ACM.

Everyone who participates receives free food and drinks for the 24 hours, as well as a free t-shirt at the end. MegaMinerAI is a fun way to show off your skills and learn about programming with a team. Any level of programmer is welcome to participate. In fact, CS 53 students have won past competitions. If you have questions during the competition, SIG-Game developers, like myself, will be available to help.

Competition begins at noon this Saturday and ends at noon this Sunday. It takes place in Toomey hall, but you are free to come and go as you please.

If you'd like to learn more about competing in Plants, SIG-Game is hosting an informational meeting at 7:00 PM in CS 207 this Thursday. We'll show you how to write an AI using last semester's game, which was called Droids. The code will be similar for Plants, but the game and strategies will be completely different.

Visit megaminerai.com for more information. If you have questions feel free to email me or SIG-Game at [email protected].

Thanks!
