PCF Export

  1. Install PCF Tools add-in.

  2. Start Revit and open a process piping project. PCF Export works on pipes, pipe fittings (elbows, tees etc.) and pipe accessories (valves, instruments etc.) in the following referred to as "elements". Elements are grouped in pipelines based on the "Abbreviation" parameter of Piping System types. In the following the term "pipeline" refers to Piping System to which the elements are assigned.

  3. (1) Select "Add-Ins" tab. (2) Click "PCF Exporter" button in PCF Tools panel.

  4. PCF Exporter window with Setup tab should become visible. (1) Click "Import PCF parameters" button. Add-in populates elements with the specific PCF shared parameters. (2) If running for the first time, click "Export schedule to EXCEL" button, if not and your EXCEL configuration file is ready then skip this step. Note: this step requires MS Excel installed.

  5. Add-in creates an EXCEL file with two worksheets -- one for pipelines and the other for elements.

  6. Fill out the EXCEL worksheets with appropriate information, see DOCUMENTATION for details. Save the EXCEL file somewhere convenient. Remember to close EXCEL before proceeding.

  7. (1) Click "Select parameter setup file (EXCEL)" button and choose the EXCEL file saved in the previous step. (2) Verify that the drop-down box contains the name of the worksheet dedicated to elements, if not choose the appropriate worksheet. (3) Click "Populate PCF parameters ELEMENT" button. Add-in populates the shared PCF parameters of the elements with data entered in the EXCEL file. (4) Change the drop-down box to point at the worksheet dedicated to pipelines. (5) Click "Populate PCF parameters PIPELINE" button. Add-in populates the shared PCF parameters of the pipelines (Piping Systems).

  8. (1) Click "Config" tab. (2) Click "Specific pipeline" radio button. (3) Input the "Abbreviation" parameter of the Piping System you wish to export. (4) Choose the desired unit settings for the "PCF File Header". Generally metric unit projects should choose radio buttons on the left side and imperial unit projects on the right.

  9. (1) Click "Run" tab. (2) Click "Select output directory" button and choose a folder where to save the exported PCF file. (3) Click "Export PCF". A PCF file will be written to the specified directory.
