Upload .VRMs or .MEs Models to Workshop - shinyflvre/Mate-Engine GitHub Wiki

Upload .VRM and .ME Files to Steam Workshop

To upload a model to the Steam Workshop, you must first have a .VRM or .ME file loaded into MateEngine.

Steps to Upload Your Model

  1. Open the MateEngine Settings Menu and click on Models. You will see your loaded model along with the buttons Remove, Load, and Upload.

  2. Ensure all metadata is correctly set in your .VRM or .ME file. This refers to the metadata entered during export, inside the VRMMeta or VRMMetaInformation component in Unity or Blender.

  3. Once everything looks correct, hold the UPLOAD button for 5 seconds. This is a security feature. When the countdown reaches zero, the upload will begin automatically.

  4. After uploading, MateEngine will open the Steam Workshop mod page for your model. There you can edit the title, description, and images.

Troubleshooting: No Upload Button

image

If you see a "FIX IMG" button instead of "UPLOAD", this means:

  1. Your model has no thumbnail image.
  2. Or the existing image exceeds 700 KB in file size.

To fix this, click "FIX IMG". A file explorer will open where you can select a new .png image.

If your file is bigger than 700KB. it will show you this error.

Image requirements:

  • Must visually represent your model.
  • Must be a square image.
  • Must be under 700 KB (0.7 MB) in file size.

Once a valid image is selected, the UPLOAD button will appear.

Steam Page Didn't Open After Upload?

If MateEngine does not open the Steam Workshop mod page after uploading:

  1. The upload may have failed silently.
  2. Or a system-level error may have blocked the page from launching.

In that case, please open a GitHub issue and attach your log file.
