/config ticket settings
- Chatot: View Channel, Create Private Threads, Send Messages in Threads
- Users: Ban Members
Summary: Allows users to open help tickets with server staff.
This command creates a permanent button that users can click to create a private thread with server mods. Running this command will present you with a modal, with 3-4 fields, for you to submit your preferences. Below is a summary of these settings.
-
Thread Channel: The parent channel off which the private threads are created (Discord requires that threads be spawned off of a text channel). -
Button Channel: If this is your first time running this command, you may select the channel where you want the embed + button to be posted. Users press this button to open a ticket. Subsequent runs of this command will omit this field; see /config ticket button if you want to post another button with your current settings. -
Log Channel(Optional): When a new ticket is opened, Chatot will send a log message to this channel. Something like "[display name] (username) opened a help ticket [link]". -
Ping Staff Roles(Optional): You may select up to 3 roles for Chatot to ping within each new ticket.
An embed + button is posted in the designated Button Channel. When users click the button, they are prompted to provide a short description (250 max characters) about their concern/question/feedback. Once the form is submitted, a private thread is created off of the Thread Channel, accessible only to the user who clicked the button, the bot, and the mods. While the user is unable to add people to the thread, mods can add users/roles to the thread by pinging them with the standard @username format within it. Please be mindful of who you ping when dealing with sensitive topics, as they will be automatically added to the private thread!
Chatot is able to notify staff of tickets in two ways: Providing a Log Channel will send an alert to the designated channel with the username of the submitter and link to the thread when a new thread is opened. Selecting Staff Roles will have Chatot ping the roles within the ticket whenever a new ticket is opened.
A server may have any number of buttons located throughout the server. Every button will map back to your current settings, creating a private thread off your designated Thread Channel regardless of where the button is located. If you wish to remove tickets from your server, simply delete the bot's message(s) containing the button.
If you notice that the thread is made and the bot tags the role, but staff is not getting the notification, ensure that either the staff role is taggable by anyone or the bot is granted the permission to tag any role.
