Troubleshooting - shanshe/Z3660 GitHub Wiki
This is beta software, and as such you should not expect perfection: indeed, you will really be helping the project by raising good bug reports! It is important to understand the boot sequence, which is:
- power LED lights dimly, screen turns black
- zTurn HDMI output enabled
- after around 5 seconds, the SCSI activity light will flash (if connected to z3660), the power light will go bright, and the screen will flash blue/green stripes briefly
- after a pause to check other device presence (c 10 seconds on A3000), your SCSI activity light will flash more and your Amiga will boot
My amiga appears dead, the power light glows but doesn't turn bright, no zTurn output
- Check jumper settings for your machine
- zturn only: If using an SD card extender, replace with a shorter one.
- zturn only: Check SD card partitions
- zturn only: Check config file, and that there's no unexpected overrules in the ENV directories
- zturn only: mismatch between boot.bin and z3660_scsi.device. Please check file sizes and dates, and retry writing. When removing your SD card, EJECT it via software before removing the card physically.
- A3000 + zTurn + Software CPU only: remove any SCSI devices from your SCSI chain
My partitions aren't working
- Is your hardfile set to be RDB mode?
- Are you using FFS or PFS3 alone for partitions?
Crash on booting workbench
- Check your drivers files are all matching your beta release version
No SCSI activity light
- A4000: check your configuration
- A3000: check your configuration
I have an A3000 and... (x doesn't work)
- Check the known issues with A3000.
z3660 Serial port for debugging
A USB serial port of ZTurn (the mini-USB connector close to the SD-Card) can be used to see and control some debug info.
First turn the Amiga on and do not turn it off while USB is connected to the PC.
Connect the USB next to the sd card to your computer.
If you are using Windows it will install a COM port. You can see the number via device manager.
Use a terminal app like Putty and connect via COMx (x being the port number) with speed 115200.
To see a list of commands press 'H' and enter, in your terminal app. You will see commands to enable more debug info, and some other tweaks and experimental commands (I use them to debug different issues).
- It is suggested to remove D27 on the ZTurn (close to the USB port) so you can turn off/on the Amiga without worrying about the PC connection. This will prevent powering the ZTurn and your Amiga from the PC USB port.
