IoT Architecture - sedioben/IoTproject GitHub Wiki
The following figure visualizes the digital and physical value-creation stages of the Internet of Things application based on the IoT stacks of Fleisch et al. (chapter IoT Architecture Foundation) for the Come'N'Eat service: [1]
According to Fleisch's architecture model, the physical things are the watch from the customer and the lock at the door. Sensors and actuators are the NFC tags, the smartwatch and smartphone, the Nuki lock and the Amazon echo dot.
The corresponding connectivity is realized through NFC, WiFi, Cellular, Bluetooth and Ethernet.
Because sensors and data are not much worth without analytics, we use an AWS analytics service to analyze the data and provide insights.
Our digital service consists of two main points:
- Analysis of the customer's personal profile and nutrition preferences to create meal suggestions.
- Ordering the selected meal from the delivery service, planning the delivery and controlling access to the customers home to deliver the meal while the customer is away.
An important note is that levels 1 to 5 cannot be created independently. Therefore the connecting arrows are drawn bidirectionally. A valuable IoT solution is usually not the addition of the levels, but an integration that extends into the physical level.
