Final Project Languages Title: Habitats 2016

Statement

Habitats is an interactive work, which focuses on the importance of water for the existence of life. Water is the principal component of human beings, plants and animal’s bodies. Habitat portrait this idea, currently through three videos: Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Each video was created by the superposition of different seasonal natural environment, and microscopic water images that I have filmed on different periods of time and places. People’s participation add a third layer, which represents our interaction with our ecosystem.

Moreover, this work is inspired by Felix Gauttari “Ecosophy”, a term that he used to describe an ecology of harmony and equilibrium, in which the preservation of the diverse ecosystems is primordial for the existence of life.

Habitats is a screen-based work, but also a project for an interactive, immersive, video-sound installation.
