History

Solis_Outside.jpg

The Hecker Pass area is home to numerous small wineries, many tracing their origins to pre-Prohibition days. The land was once part of a Mexican land grant, Rancho de Solis, from which the winery takes its name.

1917: Alfonso Bertero, after emigrating from Turin, established Bertero Winery on former Rancho de Solis land. The winery survived Prohibition through sacramental wine production.

1989: David and Valerie Vanni purchased the property and winery, renaming it Solis Winery.

2007: David and Valerie's sons, Michael and Vic Vanni, took over the family business. Michael serves as both proprietor and winemaker.

2009: Fiano won Best In Class at San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

The winery has been operating for over 100 years at Vanni Estate Vineyard.
