Sarah's Vineyard began as a 10-acre vineyard in 1978, producing Estate Chardonnay, and later Pinot Noir and Merlot. Founder and winemaker Marilyn Clark retired and sold the property in 2001 to Tim Slater, a Silicon Valley scientist and inventor who learned winemaking through UC Davis online classes and hands-on experience.
Located in the cool climate Mt. Madonna district of the southern Santa Cruz Mountains, the 24-acre estate focuses on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Rhône blends. The vineyard includes approximately 6-7 acres each of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, plus plantings of Roussanne, Marsanne, Viognier, Grenache, Grenache Blanc, and Counoise. The winery also sources fruit from local growers and outside the AVA.
