Redwood Hill Vineyards

Santa Cruz Mountains AVA

Owners: Milton & Joan Barber Manager: Size: 1 acre Varieties: Chardonnay First Planted: 1976 Age of vines: 25 years

History

The Barbers bought the land in 1974, and soon started experimenting with growing wine grapes. Several years of a growing vineyard and home winemaking followed. By 1987 the Barbers had discovered they preferred viticulture to winemaking and the vineyard had grown large enough to be a commercially viable crop, so the crop was sold to Roudon-Smith. In 1991 a long and fruitful association with Byington winery started. More history and facts and some pictures can be found on the vineyard website here.
