Historic 1.5-acre vineyard planted in 1974 by Dr. Burney Le Boeuf, Emeritus UC Santa Cruz professor and world's authority on Elephant Seals. Surrounded by towering redwoods and bordering Wilder Ranch State Park.

Size: 1.5 acres (originally Pinot Noir, later budded back to Chardonnay in spring 2020)

Location: Near Santa Cruz, surrounded by towering redwoods, bordering Wilder Ranch State Park

Soil: Gently-sloped decomposed granite

Farming: Converted to all organic viticulture under Sandar & Hem stewardship

Varietals planted:

  • Chardonnay (heritage clone, grafted to St. George rootstock)
  • Pinot Noir (heritage clone, grafted to St. George rootstock) - budded back to Chardonnay in 2020

Characteristics: Strong maritime influence, rocky soil, old vines driving extremely low yields resulting in wines of immense concentration, acidity, and character
