A small winery that produces just 200 cases of single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard was originally a part of 200 acres leased by Almaden Vineyardsand first planted in 1967. The hilly landscape was carved by glaciers, and the soil is glacial till, comprising layers of gravel and sandy dirt.

The vineyard was planted in a low density 9' x 9' spacing, with the rows running east-west. Irrigation was provided by an old overhead sprinkler system; a style that has since been abandoned in most areas in favour of drip irrigation since the latter uses a fraction of the water.

In 1990, Wallace and Elaine Jones purchased a 5 acres of the former vineyard, built a home in the middle of the vineyard and began overhauling the 23 year old vineyard. Starting with the 1993 vintage the wine was produced under contract by Thomas Kruse Winery, but in 2001 Wallace Jones took on the mantle of winemaker and Jones Winery was established.
