History
Began as Pinot Noir specialist in 2002, sourcing from various sites from Chalone to Mendocino. 2008: Began with Nebbiolo from Paso Robles. 2011: Began seeking intriguing varieties uncommon in California. 2012: Returned to Santa Cruz Mountains.
25+ years of winemaking. Fascination with obscure Old World grapes has become main theme. Goal: produce clean, vibrant, stable wines with profiles consistent with the grape. Small-lot fermentations with minimal manipulation in vineyard and cellar.
UC Davis Foundation Plant Service Partnership
Since 2015, working with Foundation Plant Service at UC Davis to introduce new grapevines from Europe to America. All varieties completed FPS quarantine, certified virus-free, DNA tested as true-to-type.
Introduced varieties from Italy (30+ varieties including Nerello Mascalese, Frappato, Pelaverga, Nero di Troia) and Spain (5 varieties including Trepat, Sumoll).

Santa Cruz Mountains:
- Coast Grade Vineyard (Pinot Noir)
- Bald Mountain (Chardonnay)
- Fratelli Vineyard near Gilroy (Fiano, Muscat Canelli, Teroldego, Lagrein, Charbono, Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon)
Other vineyards: 1010, Berardo, Lover's Lane, Luna Matta, Siletto, Thompson, Wiley
Wines
Portfolio includes single-vineyard Pinot Noirs and ever-evolving collection from obscure grapes: Nebbiolo, Corvina, Trousseau, Lagrein, Aglianico, Alvarelhao, Sagrantino, Mission, Montepulciano, Falanghina, Ribolla Gialla, Grenache Blanc, Carignane, Counoise, Cinsault, Grenache, Marzemino.
Grapes picked at moderate ripeness. Minimal to fully neutral oak to allow site and varietal character to shine. Whites see no oak.
Terrane Wines
Second label sourced from organic vineyards. No sulfur compounds used at any point for preservation - new approach to wine stabilization.
