In 1976 Bill Frick and Judith Gannon sold their 1957 Chevy and used the proceeds together with their life savings to start a winery.

Frick Winery (#4771) was bonded at 3965 Bonny Doon Road and wines were produced there for 3 years. Around 1980 Frick moved into a space at the Sash Mill near downtown Santa Cruz and produced wine there until 1985 when the winery moved to the current location - 23072 Walling Road, Geyserville. The space in Sash Mill is now occupied by Storrs Winery.
