Duane Cronin

Duane's interest in wine began at a very early age. When his job as an executive at IBM brought him to Woodside in the mid 1970s he decided to have a go at winemaking. He planted a small vineyard at his home and begain by making a small quantity of Zinfandel with fruit sourced from Caymus in Napa. By 1980 his hobby was taking over and so her bonded Cronin Vineyards. He continued to build up production until finally he took early retirement in 1992 and became a full time winemaker.

He had a reputation as a character and a raconteur.

Duane Cronin died in January 2007.
