Overview
Ahlgren Vineyard was a historic vineyard and winery located in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, seven miles north of Boulder Creek on Highway 9. Founded in 1976 by Dexter and Valerie Ahlgren, the operation produced 2,500-3,000 cases per year using traditional, hands-on methods until closure in 2016.
History
1976: Founded by Dexter and Valerie Ahlgren in Boulder Creek.
2000: Dexter Ahlgren suffered a stroke; daughter Beth Ahlgren took over as winemaker.
2016: The winery closed operations.
Vineyard & Production
The winery was located in the cellar of the Ahlgren family home on Highway 9. The operation used traditional, hands-on winemaking methods.
