Glow Worm Luciferin devices are auto discovered by Firefly Luciferin PC software using a broadcast communication.

If your ESP is connected to a VLAN or subnet, auto discovery will not work and you will need to enter the IP address manually.

Using a static IP isn't really recommended and is only useful when auto discovery doesn't work.
Enabling MQTT on both Firefly and Glow Worm increases robustness in scenarios where UDP‑based discovery fails or behaves inconsistently, since the device no longer relies solely on UDP broadcasts.

If you choose to use a static IP you may consider disabling the DHCP feature in the Web Settings of your Glow Worm Luciferin device.
