3D Printers
The Hackerspace has several 3D printers:
- Prusa i3 setup for printing PLA
- Prusa i3 setup for printing PETG
- Peopoly Moai - Up and running
Prusa I3
The I3 printers can be accessed at i3-petg.sbhackerspace.com and i3-pla.sbhackerspace.com The printers run octoprint to handle slicing and printing. Octoprint requires a log in using your SBHX credentials.
Peopoly Moai
The Peopoly Moai is an SLA printer and uses a UV cure resin to print. Please send any files for printing to [email protected] and they will be printed on Saturdays.
3D printer policy
- Introduction
The aim of this policy is to respect and uphold intellectual property rights and to prevent the unauthorized use, reproduction, and distribution of copyrighted materials through 3D printing technology.
- Policy Statement
a. Unauthorized 3D Printing: No person or entity under the jurisdiction of this policy shall use 3D printing technology to create, reproduce, distribute, or sell objects or materials that infringe upon any copyrighted material.
b. Compliance with Copyright Law: All 3D printing activities must adhere to the copyright laws of the relevant jurisdiction. This includes, but is not limited to, the Copyright Act of 1976 in the United States and similar laws in other jurisdictions.
- Respecting Intellectual Property Rights
a. Before 3D printing any object, users must ensure they possess the legal rights to reproduce the design or material. This could be through ownership of the copyright, permission from the copyright holder, or use that falls under 'fair use' or similar exemptions under copyright law.
b. Any violation of intellectual property rights through 3D printing will be regarded as a serious violation of this policy and may lead to appropriate action, including but not limited to disciplinary action, legal action, and/or cessation of access to 3D printing resources.
- Reporting Infringement
a. Users who believe that their copyrighted material has been infringed upon by unauthorized 3D printing are encouraged to report the infringement to the appropriate authority or body within our organization.
b. Users who observe potential copyright infringement are also encouraged to report these observations in the interest of protecting the rights of creators.
- Policy Enforcement
The enforcement of this policy will be done in a fair and consistent manner. Any violations of this policy will be dealt with seriously and may result in disciplinary action.
- Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed on a regular basis and may be updated as necessary to align with current legislation and best practices in intellectual property rights and 3D printing technology.
