Describe about the Users & Group in OIC

In Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Users and Groups are part of Identity and Access Management (IAM). They help us control who can access OCI resources and what they are allowed to do. A user's permissions generally come through the groups they belong to, while policies define what those groups can do and where.

  1. User - A User represents an individual person who needs access to OCI. Each person should have their own user account rather than sharing an account. This helps with security and auditing because actions can be associated with the individual user.

  2. Group - A Group is a collection of users who need similar types of access. Instead of assigning permissions to every user individually, we can create a group and assign users to it. Then we use an IAM policy to give that group the required permissions.
