On-Premises(Data center) VS cloud
1. On-Premises (Data Center)
On-Premises means an organization has its own physical data center where servers, storage, networking equipment, and other IT infrastructure are installed.
The organization is responsible for purchasing, installing, maintaining, securing, and upgrading the infrastructure.
Example: ABC Technologies has a data center with:
Physical servers Storage systems Network switches and routers Firewalls Databases Power and cooling systems
ABC's IT team manages everything.
2. Cloud
Cloud computing means an organization uses IT resources provided by a cloud service provider, such as Oracle Cloud, instead of owning all the physical infrastructure.
The cloud provider manages the underlying physical data centers and hardware, while the organization manages the cloud resources it uses.
Example: ABC Technologies uses Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to create:
Compute instances Databases Storage Virtual networks Other cloud services
ABC doesn't need to purchase physical servers for these resources.
