Lab 10-2 DHCP Decode

Summary: This lab had us answer some simple questions about the information from two different DORA captures in order to get used to the DHCP Initilization Process in WireShark.

  • Notice that the Layer 2 Destination Address is ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
  • Notice that the Layer 3 Source IP is 0.0.0.0 and the Destination is 255.255.255.255
  • Source UDP Port is 68, Destination UDP Port is 67
  • In the offer packet, expand the DHCP Header and look through the options to see the configuration offer for the requesting device
