All these dating apps have some things in common that I can use for my own feature.

:thinking: Habit loop

A lot of these apps enforce a habit loop. This way the user will continue coming back to the app to use it. This is done by sending the user a trigger, which turns into an action from the user, which turns into a reward. In this case, a match or chat message.
