BIOS/firmware configuration

Quality of life settings:

• Restore on AC Power Loss → Power On
• Bootup Num-Lock → Off (messes with ThinkPad keyboards)
• Full Screen Logo → Off
• Virtualization (VT-x or AMD-V) → Enabled

Partitioning

A typical Windows development machine will use more than 300 GiB; so at least 400 GiB is recommended (see notes about Windows Disk Usage).

⚠️ make sure to use UEFI and not legacy BIOS

⚠️ install Windows before Linux to avoid bootloader issues
