Using the BlueSaab - sambthompson/SAAB-CDC GitHub Wiki

Pairing with your audio playing device

Once the BlueSaab is connected to your car, it's on and ready for Bluetooth pairing (discoverable). Switch on your phone or other device and select the BlueSaab from the list. It will have the broadcast name you entered at step two of the Complete the settings process.

Playing audio

To play audio, turn the IHU on, and select the CDC source. For IHUs with built-in CD player, the CD button must be pressed twice. For IHUs with built-in CD player AND a cassette tape player, the CD button must be pressed 3 times. The SID should display "CD PLAY 01" and your phone/player should indicate it's now connected to the BlueSaab. Playback should start automatically if you have an active playlist ready to start on your device (i.e. if pressing "play" on it would start playback). If nothing happens, try the "Next" button on your steering wheel; it "Plays" if "Paused" and "Pauses" if "Playing".

Controls reference for the 9-3

Because the BlueSaab module is not a 6 disc CD changer, it is controlled slightly differently as some functions on the CDC don't apply to BlueSaab, and vice-versa. Note that this guide assumes your BlueSaab module has the latest release of the SAAB-CDC software loaded.

The Head Unit

On the Head Unit, the following controls are relevant:

Saab 9-3 IHU buttons

  1. The disc select buttons numbered 1 to 6
  2. The SEEK rocker button
  3. The CDC/Rdm button

The original CDC functions are also shown in the table for comparison. Changed functions are bold.

For BlueSaab, press+hold means holding down the relevant button for at least three seconds.
