Mod Organizer 2

If you prefer Mod Organizer 2 over Fluorine you can switch back. However Mod Organizer 2 was replaced with Fluorine due to accessibility issues and bugs. If you understand the risk you can follow these steps to configure it.

Important

This is intended for advanced users and these manual steps were one of the reasons why Mod Organizer 2 is no longer the default You will not receive help in setting up Mod Organizer 2.

Proton Prefix Configuration

Ensure you are working with a clean slate by deleting the 489830 folder. This is the Proton Prefix that Skyrim uses to run. You can find this in the same place that steamapps/common is, but the full path with vary depending on your Operating System and disk layout. For example your path may be here:

/home/USERNAME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/489830

Delete this folder and then go to Steam and under Skyrim, right click and select "Properties" and go to the "Compatibility" tab.

Select "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and choose "GE-Proton10-25"

Tip

If you do not see this version, install it with ProtonPlus or ProtonUp-Qt and restart Steam

After Skyrim has launched and you have exited the game, open a terminal and run the following command

PROTON_VERSION="GE-Proton10-25" protontricks 489830 dotnet48 vcrun2022 corefonts dxvk d3dcompiler_47 fontsmooth=rgb win10

Proton Drive Configuration

Once you have finished installing the dependencies in the previous section, you will need to map a new "Drive". This is done to overcome the MAX_PATH limitation.

  • In terminal, run protontricks 489830 --gui
  • Ignore any warnings
  • Click "Select the default wine prefix"
  • Click "Run winecfg"

This will bring up the Wine configuration menu. Click on the "Drives" tab and click "Add..."

  • Select X as the drive letter
  • Give it the UNIX path to your Nolvus installation e.g. /Games/Nolvus where Nolvus contains the "Instances Folder"
  • Then Click "OK"

Warning

If you installed Nolvus to a custom directory and do not have the "Instances" folder, you will need to manually change ModOrganizer.ini to match!

DXVK/ENB

Caution

SKIP THIS STEP IF EVERYTHING LOOKS FINE IN GAME! THIS IS NOT MANDATORY AND SHOULD ONLY BE DONE IF YOU ENCOUNTER ISSUES!

If you are experiencing issues with Complex Parallax or low resolution textures on mountains you will need to do this.

Download dxvk 2.7.1

Note that at the time of writing, 2.7.1 was the latest version. It is unknown if newer versions work at this time.

Take d3d11.dll from the x64 folder and place it in your STOCK GAME directory. Rename this file to dxvk.dll, do not delete or rename the original d3d11.dll

Then add the following to enblocal.ini

[PROXY]
EnableProxyLibrary=true
InitProxyFunctions=true
ProxyLibrary=dxvk.dll

[GLOBAL]
LinuxVersion=true

Nolvus Launcher

This step is mandatory to be able to launch MO2 through steam, and therefore actually play Nolvus.

To install the Redirector automatically, in the Nolvus Dashboard you can click "Manage" on your instance, and then "Setup Steam Redirector". If this does not work for you, you can manually download it from here

If manually installing, place the downloaded file in your STEAM INSTALL version of Skyrim (Not Nolvus STOCK GAME). Rename SkyrimSELauncher.exe to SkyrimSELauncher.exe.bak and rename NolvusLauncher.exe to SkyrimSELauncher.exe

Create a file in this same folder called instancepath.txt and in that file place the full path to Mod Organizer 2:

/full/path/to/Instances/Nolvus Ascension/MO2/ModOrganizer.exe

Bodyslide and Outfit Studio

Body Slide (the program - not the in game race menu) should work fine on any version of wine/proton. If you see a black screen when previewing the mesh, try GE-Proton 10.34 or a Proton 9.x build.

Of course, make sure BodySlide is configured correctly within MO2.

Binary: X:\Instances\Nolvus Awakening\MODS\mods\BodySlide and Outfit Studio\CalienteTools\BodySlide\BodySlide x64.exe

Start in: X:\Instances\Nolvus Awakening\MODS\mods\BodySlide and Outfit Studio\CalienteTools\BodySlide\BodySlide x64.exe

In order to have any files write to disk you will also need to modify the program settings once.

Open the "Settings" by clicking the "Settings" button on the bottom right of the program.

Change the following:

Game Data Path: X:\Instances\Nolvus Awakening\STOCK GAME\data\

Output Path X:\Instances\Nolvus Awakening\MODS\overwrite\ OR you can make a "New Empty Mod" in MO2 and point the output path to that folder.

Then click OK and you are done.

xEdit

Make sure xEdit is configured the following way in MO2.

Binary: X:\Instances\Nolvus Awakening\TOOLS\SSE Edit\SSEEdit.exe

Start in: X:\Instances\Nolvus Awakening\TOOLS\SSE Edit

Arguments: -D:"X:\Instances\Nolvus Awakening\STOCK GAME\Data" -I:"X:\Instances\Nolvus Awakening\MODS\profiles\Nolvus Awakening\Skyrim.ini" -P:"X:\Instances\Nolvus Awakening\MODS\profiles\Nolvus Awakening\plugins.txt"

Nemesis Unlimited Behavior Engine

You should use Proton8.0-5 or a GE-Proton8.* if you want to have success with Nemesis. It may work with other versions, but it is confirmed working with these.

You will need to create a symlink in STOCK GAME\Data that points to the Nemesis_Engine folder.

Tip

This should be done automatically for you if you installed your instance with Dashboard 3.8.11.4 or newer

ln -s "/path/to/MODS/mods/Nemesis Unlimited Behavior Engine/Nemesis_Engine" "/path/to/STOCK GAME/Data"

If you are stuck at 99% you may need to delete this file XP32 Maximum Skeleton Special Extended/meshes/actors/character/animations/XPMSE/FNIS_XPMSE_List.txt - However I do not know what this breaks if anything.

You should set up the Binary in MO2 like so: Z:\path\to\Nolvus Ascension\STOCK GAME\Data\Nemesis_Engine\Nemesis Unlimited Behavior Engine.exe and leave "Start in" blank.
