This wiki is hosted and maintained by Polyverse, the company of Jan Boon (Kaetemi).

Jan Boon (Kaetemi)

Jan has been involved with the NeL engine and the Ryzom Core project since the OpenNeL days. He maintains the core4 development branch and the public testing servers. His contributions to the codebase include:

  • The XAudio2 sound driver and streaming sound sources
  • The OpenGL 3.3 rendering backend, including the nelvp-to-GLSL converter and GPU skinning
  • The Python-based asset build pipeline and Assimp-based graphics exporter
  • The Quick Start package for Windows, integrating the complete development workflow
  • FXAA anti-aliasing, IPv6 networking, QUIC transport support
  • Patchman deployment documentation and server configuration tooling

He also maintains much of the technical documentation on this wiki. His commit history on the Ryzom Core repository and his technical blog cover ongoing development work.

Other Polyverse Projects

Outside of Ryzom Core, Polyverse works on several other projects.

AI Chat Characters

Polyverse builds AI characters that hang out in group chats. Ruri is a catgirl who lives on simulated Mars. Aoi is a cute anime girl you can invite to your Discord server to chat with you and your friends. They're both used to explore how memory, personality, and group dynamics work for AI in social settings. You can also make your own AI friend for your Discord server.

Embedded GPU & MCU Emulation

Polyverse develops emulators and development tools for Bridgetek's BT8xx and FT9xx embedded display controllers, used for prototyping firmware and UI flows without requiring physical hardware.
