You found out how to place entities, and want to test out their behavior? This guide will give you some information on the game modes. {.is-info}

In the Ryzom Ring there are 3 different game modes. The Edit mode is, as you would have already noticed, to Edit your scenario.

The second mode, is the DM (Dungeon Master) mode. This is used to play game master in your own Scenario. You can use it to control acts and entities, and to let other players play in your creation.

For who want to play their own or someone else's creation, there is the Play mode. Using this, you will just play like you would in Ryzom. Switching between DM and Play mode is only possible in Test Mode, not while your scenario is live.

Edit Mode

Edit mode is used to... Edit. That means placing npc and objects and letting them do whatever you want. In the Edit mode, you also have the DM and Play mode available in an Editor-only Test mode, to test your Scenario. You can use these by pressing F8 or selecting Test Scenario in the Main Menu. Once the Scenario is uploaded, there will be an option in the bottom-left corner to switch between the DM Test and Play Test mode.

DM Mode

The DM Mode has a lot of buttons in the bottom-left corner of your screen. You can use these to manually let an npc talk, disable an npc, kill an npc, change the weather or change to another act. In this mode you also aren't able to die.

Play Mode

When you are in Play mode, you play like you would do in Ryzom, without any powerful commands. You should read the Ryzom manual for more information on how to play Ryzom.

Notes

  • To switch between modes, you can use the Ring window.
  • Always warn the other Editors before you go to Test Mode.
