Final Project
Completion
/kəmˈplēSH(ə)n/
noun
- the action or process of finishing something.
- the state of being finished.
- having all necessary parts, elements, or steps
Examples of completion:
- He will receive his degree upon completion of his studies.
- Your grade will be determined by the level of completion of this project.
Completion is...
The end of a day, month, year, or a decade. It's the end of a lecture, a homework assignment, a final project. It is a state of being complete. However, it is not just an ending, it can also bring new beginnings. For example, when you graduate you will be beginning a new chapter in your life, after a full moon it begins to wane, or when you finish eating a sandwich, you're full. Completion brings change.
For part 1 of your completion final project you will define what completion means to you and create a moodboard around this definition.
What does it mean to you?
Using InDesign or Illustrator create a visually appealing layout and answer these questions:
- In your own words, what is completion?
- What makes something complete?
- Give one personal example of a life event that gave you a sense of completion.
- Why did it feel complete?
- What was the level of completion, i.e. did you finish every task or was the outcome met?
- What change did this bring about?
- Give a non-personal example.
- What made it complete?
- What change does it bring about?
- For example: Because of the gravitational pull of the Sun,every 365 days of the year the earth completes one full orbit of the sun. A calendar year is completed after each orbit. Seasons change, snow falls and melts, rain comes and goes, plants grow, etc...
Research
Create a moodboard around your idea of completion using InDesign or Illustrator. It must include:
- One page of images that set the tone of your definition of completion. Explain why you chose these images.
- 3 pieces of music, with links to youtube or soundcloud that help you on your journey to completion. Explain why you chose these pieces.
- 3 interactive creative code pieces or sites that you are inspired by and have elements that you wish to integrate into your final project. Explain why you chose these pieces.
Next week you will share your definitions of completion, preliminary research, and ideas for the project with the class. After that, you will be given the opportunity to choose your teammates for the project.
