Idea #1 Security tool

Topic definition: I'm going to code and host a security tool that can check for maliciousness for a website. This will be coded in python and most likely hosted through a cloud service or by myself, that needs to be sorted out. This will be a tool that will be available for public use so everyone can benefit and check their URLs.

Topic overview: This project is something that I have started formulating over the summer while working an information security internship. I want to create a security tool that pulls from multiple other security tools/databases that check for malicious domains/urls. I think this tool could make investigations easier having an all in one sort of tool in the sense it pulls from a handful of other sites.

Description: I think this will be my main project I focus on as I think this will have real world benefits. I plan on coding it with python and pulling from various apis like virus total api to make a tool that grabs results from a bunch of website checkers to deliver an ultimate status of whether a website is malicious or not. I think there will be some categorization system aswell, like a website that is entertainment, a medicine website or a malicious website, with a maliciousness rating and a categorization rating this tool should be an actually helpful tool that I hope will gain popularity in the cyber world.

Idea #2 Security audit of a local business

topic definition:

A security audit is a full breakdown of a certain location. This audit would entail both network security aswell as physical security as both are important aspects of cybersecurity and protecting information.

topic overview: Important because my parents work at this hotel and it has a lot of issues with keeping safe as its not in the best area. I think a security audit could be a winwin scenario and its a property with multiple buildings as it has a trade center as well for trade shows, the network is pretty big.

definition: I used to work at a rather large hotel, I still do part time work there and would probably be able to carry this out. I think just making a list of what controls should be in place before I carry it out would be important, aswell as doing multiple runs.
