Privacy Policy of the Ruffle Browser Extension - ruffle-rs/ruffle GitHub Wiki

The Ruffle browser extension ("Ruffle", "us," or "we") respects your privacy, and we want you to understand how your information may be stored or shared. This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") sets forth the privacy practices and policies governing Ruffle.

Ruffle is a player for Adobe Flash content. When you visit a web site, Ruffle will search the site's HTML for embedded Flash content. We do not store nor transmit your browsing activity.

Flash content has the ability to store and transmit data. Because Ruffle plays back Flash content on the sites you visit, this content may transmit data to a third-party. Specifically, Flash content may do the following:

  • Flash content may store data locally on your computer. Ruffle stores this data offline using the browser's LocalStorage APIs.

  • Flash content may make network requests and send data to third-party web servers. This data may include personally identifiable or "fingerprintable" information.

Use caution when viewing untrusted content. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third parties nor the content of websites you visit. We encourage you to read the applicable privacy policies and terms and conditions of such parties or websites.

Ruffle stores settings locally using the browser's extension storage API. These settings control the operation of Ruffle and do not contain identifying information. We do not transmit these settings to any server.

If Ruffle encounters an error, it will display an option to submit a crash report to Ruffle's GitHub issue tracker. This crash report includes information about your browser and the site that caused the error. The crash report is not stored nor transmitted without your explicit consent via posting to our GitHub page.

Ruffle is open-source. The source code can be viewed on Ruffle's GitHub repository.
