Ongoing UX Research Projects

Overview

Welcome to RSpace's UX research initiatives! This page outlines our current research priorities and provides opportunities for community members to participate in shaping the future of RSpace's user experience. By contributing to these research projects, you'll help us create more intuitive, accessible, and effective tools for researchers to manage their data across the research lifecycle.

How to Participate

We welcome contributions from UX researchers, designers, RSpace users, and research data management practitioners. If you're interested in participating in any of these research tracks:

  1. Review the project descriptions below
  2. Select the project(s) that align with your interests and expertise
  3. Follow the instructions of the given project to sign up directly for a specific research activity or reach out to opensource[@]researchspace.com if you want to support the project.

Current Research Tracks

1. Chemistry

Goal: Understand current chemistry documentation and data management workflows and how RSpace can better support these workflows.

Methodology: Remote interviews

Participant Commitment: 45 minute to 1-hour interview session, optional follow-up activities

2. AI supported workflows

Goal: Explore how researchers mentally organize and structure their research data to inform a more intuitive information architecture efficient workflows within RSpace.

Methodology: Remote interviews

Participant Commitment: 45 minute to 1-hour interview session, optional follow-up activities

Proposing New Research Tracks

Have an idea for a UX research project that would benefit RSpace? We welcome community-initiated research proposals! Please submit your ideas by emailing opensource[@]researchspace.com.

Your proposal should include:

  • Research objective
  • Key research questions
  • Proposed methodology
  • Expected outcomes and impact on RSpace
  • Timeline and resource requirements

We'll get back to you to coordinate your project.

Research Ethics & Data Usage

All UX research activities adhere to ethical standards for user research. Participation is voluntary, and participants can withdraw at any time. Personal data collected during research will be handled according to our privacy policy. Research findings will be shared with the community in anonymized form to protect participant privacy.
