Process Improvements - rsanchez-wsu/jfiles GitHub Wiki

Team 2 have come up with the following suggestions that could improve the process of communicating between teams and keeping all work done transparent so it may move between students with minimal confusion.

  1. Better documentation for issues. We need to go into more detail and specifics about each issue to make it clear what needs to be done.

  2. Better comments for commits. Comments need to be in more detail and address specific changes.

  3. Make it more clear whether an issue is still open or resolved.

  4. Assign issues to specific team members at the time of issue creation. At the moment it is sometimes unclear who is doing what.

  5. Better documentation of information on slack on GitHub. Slack information needs to be moved and documented on GitHub.

  6. Better enumeration of issues. In other words, splitting up issues into smaller components.

  7. More specific descriptions including in suggestions for improvement #irony

  8. I think a mandatory merge-to-master date every 2 or 3 weeks. This would be beneficial, because of the mix timings of merges into master; many teams are super behind and having a lot of conflicts and issues trying to merge. I think this would solve that issue, because each branch would be a max of 2 or 3 weeks old and conflicts would hopefully be minimum at that point.
