What Is Racebox?

Racebox provides automated sound signals and finish timing for sailing races. It is intended to provide support for a race team running club races or at open meetings. It can also make light signals to help sailors at the start.

What Computer And Software Is Needed?

It can be used on computers that run Python 3.x programs, which include:

  • Windows 10 (or newer) desktop and laptop computers
  • Ubuntu/Debian/Linux desktop and laptop computers

It may also run on:

  • Windows Surface Go or Pro tablets
  • Apple Macbooks

but these have not yet been tested.

How Does Racebox Make Sound Signals?

The Racebox program connects to relays, which are computer-controlled switches. It uses a relay to turn an air horn or light on and off.
