User Research Eva - rosielab/pepper-documentation GitHub Wiki

These are the findings from our interview with Eva Yap. We asked her about how Outreach used Pepper. They no longer use Pepper and it is unlikely they will use Pepper again.

Eva (Outreach) used to use Pepper, but doesn’t anymore.

  • Pepper was used in Pepper workshops, introducing grade 9-12 students to coding

  • Tethys was used, which was simple drag-and-drop, and could be used through a browser

  • Since the robot was right in front of students, it was very engaging

  • Since Tethys is no longer supported, these workshops are no longer being held

  • Outreach has no intention of starting them back up, unless Tethys is supported again

Potential future applications for Pepper:

  • Greeting kids as they sign in and out to camp

  • Pepper can be difficult to move around and store, so Outreach would probably only use Pepper for something really engaging and worthwhile

  • Pepper is cute to have around, and could be engaging for kids at an AI camp
