Macros are recorded actions that are capable of being played back to repeat a block of user input. The goal of peppy macros is to be able to record beth keystrokes and menu actions, provide the means for them to be scriptable and editable, organize them intelligently, and store them persistently.

Peppy groups macros by the major mode upon which they operate, so only those macros that are applicable to the current major mode will appear. This reduces clutter in the user interface.
