To do this, activate serial number reservation under Administration - Configuration wizard - Production - Valuation and Posting of assembly - serial numbers.
With the automatic serial number generation in beas, the corresponding serial numbers are then generated and stored for the work order if the finished part is a serial number-managed item. With setting "manually" serial numbers can be defined manually.
The assigned serial numbers are visible in the production structure view under the position. It is does not matter whether the work order is created manually, from a customer order, or from a calculation. If a position is deleted, the assigned serial numbers are also deleted and are no longer available. If the number is changed, the number of assigned serial numbers is adjusted. If the number is increased, the new serial numbers are added; if reduced, the last serial numbers are removed.
Manual receipt of finished goods If a production position is received by manual entry, selection of the serial numbers opens automatically after you enter the number of units. The corresponding quantity of serial numbers is pre-selected. The actual number of entries corresponds to the quantity of selected serial numbers. You cannot receive more goods than the quantity of serial numbers available. A confirmation is blocked, if you try to report a higher quantity according to the reserved serial numbers. In the event of overproduction, you must therefore increase the number in the work order in advance. Received serial numbers are marked as received in the structure view.
Reserved serial numbers can be changed retroactively, as long as they have not been posted. The editing window is opened in work order structure view - expand and double click on "reserved serial numbers“ – double click. Click on edit to edit the numbers
Cancellation entry If a serial number is re-issued on a work order basis, the serial number in question is reset to "unreceived".
Backflushing If you enter the finished goods by backflushing or reporting the last operation, the serial numbers are determined automatically. The smallest serial numbers are posted first. If the quantity of reserved serial numbers is insufficient, new serial numbers are determined for the excess quantities.
If the option "also post serial numbers" was enabled, when serial numbers are issued, you need only to define, to which reserved serial number the material will be posted. The same applies for batches. NOTE It is recommended to switch this option to "manually" to prevent automatic pre-assignment.
