Without using APS, manufacturing can be controlled manually. Based on priorities, time receipts and material stock, pool control calculates which operations should be performed next on a resource. Using the pool report – accessible through logon/logoff ( = terminal) - employees can log on or off their operations.
A pool is the operation queue for a certain resource. In resource master data you define, the number of work hours which the pool can contain (Resource - Pool limit in hours). For employees, this means that they must first process the most important work orders. At the same time, this kind of selection allows employees to work in an optimized manner.
Priority Before the positions are sorted in the pools, they are sorted according to priority. The following applies: Oldest start date has the highest priority. Start date: According to operation – Calculated through capacity planning This is "aged" by the pool days stored in production priority multiplied by the number of days stored in Configuration wizard - Pooling - Multiplier See: Pooling, Scheduling
Current pool The employee always sees the current pool. These are orders that can be started, having the highest priority and fitting into the pool. Instant orders are always in the current pool. The current pool is pool 1. After it has been processed, pool 2 is activated as current pool, etc.
Pool 0 This pool contains all routing positions which cannot yet be reported as the preceding reportable routing position has not yet been reported. As soon as the previous position has been reported, the position automatically moves from pool 0 in the next available pool.
Pool > 0 This includes all positions that can be started but that do not fit in the first pool. Generally, a daily recalculation (Pooling, Scheduling) is required to allows the most important positions to move to the active pool.
Manual sorting can also be done through the pool structure list.
Manual changes Using the Pool Structure Report positions can be moved manually from one pool to another.
